Colby Runs

I've never considered myself a runner.  It's something I do only because it doesn't require much equipment, and once you hit the pavement you have to get back somehow!  But now that I've been running consistently a few years, I suppose it's time to call myself a runner!  Recently Colby has decided he needs to get in shape for soccer.  I may have encouraged that thought process a little bit!  So together we hit the pavement.  The first run was a little brutal for him!  But he completed a mile and I was so proud!  And he wanted to stick with it.
1 Mile 12'49" Pace

1 Mile 11'54' Pace
1.5 Miles 12'01" Pace

2.25 Miles 10'54" Pace
2.5 Miles 10'17" Pace

Everson Parade

Colby, Brielle, and Corson signed up for the reading program at the library this summer.  As part of the summer reading program, they were invited to be in the Everson parade with the library's entry.  The kids were super excited about this!  So the day of the parade we loaded up the bikes and and headed for downtown Everson!  So far the parade has been one of the highlights of the summer for the kids and they can't wait til next year to do it again!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

The kids earned some Bellingham Bells tickets from a summer reading program.  Unfortunately we didn't get to pick the date and it was not supposed to be a nice day!  We left Lance at home with his bad back and headed to Joe Martin field.  The kids were pretty excited for their first game.  I was expecting them to get bored and only make it a few innings, but they lasted the whole game!  Thanks to Auntie Cara's friend we were able to upgrade our seats from the bleachers to some seats under cover so we stayed nice and dry!

Red, White, Blue, and Sparkles!

We spent the Fourth at home, a much needed day to relax!  The day started with doing Brielle's hair in a star design.  It's so fun now that she sits still to let me try these fun designs!  I was a total slacker and did not buy my kids any festive t-shirts, so this was the best she could find in her closet.  And I think she looks adorable!
After her hair was done, she needed the nails to match, and then Corson needed to join the fun, and then mom needed her toes done too!  Lots of red, white, blue and sparkles!
The neighbors always host an epic party, and we are lucky enough to have a nice lawn to let them play games on, so we get to join in the fun!
And finally, time for fireworks!  So thankful this year has been wetter than last year so we could safely light our fireworks!  Corson fell asleep at 8, so he didn't get to see the big ones, but Colby and Brielle had fun staying up super late and enjoying the show!
Happy Fourth!!

Chugga Chugga Choo Choo

Corson turns two in two weeks.  One of my favorite things is designing birthday invites and Christmas cards.  Last year Corson had a Hungry Caterpillar birthday party.  I'm not planning anything that big this year, I'm sticking with a train theme.  And I had lots of fun designing his invite today!

Kindergarten, here he comes! Be Kind Please!!!

Colby starts kindergarten tomorrow.  I lost it last night.  I thought I would be okay.  But I guess I am more nervous than he is.  He isn't so sure about all this.  Some days he's excited and others, not so much.  On our way to meet the teacher I asked if he was nervous.  He told me no.  I told him that I was nervous.  He then told me his tummy kind of hurt and asked if that meant he was nervous too.  Oh Colby.  How I wish I could be there with him and make sure all the kids are nice to him and that he doesn't do anything too silly. But I guess this is where I'm supposed to start letting go, little by little and let him experience life without me.  How is this happening already?

We filled out this questionnaire tonight.  My goal is to fill it out at the end of the school year again, and then each year to see how he grows.  Hopefully we can remember!

One of a kind pencil box

One thing Colby needs to bring to school is a pencil box.  We found a nice cheap yellow when we went school shopping.  I wanted to make it special for him, so we got out my silhouette cutter and personalized it.  I think it turned out pretty cute handsome!
